Internet in Poruba: a large estate and the question of who decides

Poruba as a planned estate

Poruba was created after the Second World War as a new town for the people of Ostrava. Its first part from the 1950s is associated with socialist realism and the well-known Poruba arch; later building relied mainly on panels, simpler and faster. Today it is a sprawling territory with many apartment buildings of various ages and construction. Alongside are smaller areas of family houses. According to available studies many estates in Poruba are going through regeneration, meaning renovation of buildings and surroundings.

What that means for connections

Large numbers of apartment buildings. A connection here is typically arranged for the whole building at once. If the building is already connected to fibre, you only order the service. If not, the owners must decide. It helps when neighbours send several addresses from one entrance or building: it shows the provider and the committee real interest.

Building renovation. When insulating or replacing risers it makes sense to arrange internal wiring together, so the building is not disturbed twice. If a renovation is planned at your building, mention it in the note.

Buildings of different ages. Older blocks from the 1950s have different wiring and spaces than later panel buildings. That is why we check each address individually, not by "estate type".

The steps with an owners' association or cooperative are described in Fibre in an apartment building.

Family houses and edges

In family houses and surrounding districts the line from the street and the route across the plot matter. What affects difficulty is in Bringing a fibre cable to your house. When fibre is missing, we offer the best alternative: cable, VDSL or wireless.
